Ideal Classroom
My ideal classroom would consist of about 12 students with a part time teacher’s
assistant. I would like to have a couple students with disabilities so that my
students get the opportunity for interacting with all different types of
individuals. I also would like a variety of performance levels in the classroom.
Students can learn to interact differently with different performance levels of
students and be able to help the students that need help. This will give
variety, caring, and responsibility to the students. I would also love to have a
laptop for each of my students in the class. Another technology factor I would
love is a smart board. Those boards come in very handy and it is a great way to
keep students interacted in the lesson. I also would like a pretty decent size
classroom even if there are only 12 students. The reason for the big space is so
that I have an area for storage, book shelving, a student/teacher table that
holds about six students if needed, library area for students to sit and read,
and a restroom. I also would like
to be able to have a TV into my classroom for any videos that will be able to go
into my lessons. Another part that
would be great is having a room that is attached onto the classroom. I love to
integrate physical activity with my academic lessons so this room would be great
to be able to store any objects I need for the activities so the items are right
their when it comes time to do the activity. That would help with losing time
and attention on the certain subject we are in the process of studying.

Discouraging Innapropriate Behavior
·
On the first day of school,
students will be informed of the rules and routines that are expected to be
followed during the school year. They will also be informed that
consequences will be presented to them if rules and routines are not abided by.
I will have a hierarchy of consequences for students who do not follow the
rules. Student’s misbehaviors will also be recorded in a book to keep track of
all the data so if parents would like to see when the child’s behaviors
occurred.
·
· First Offense- Redirect behavior-I will remind the student of the rules and the appropriate behavior that is necessary for the classroom. I then will monitor the child. If he/she follows through with the proper behavior the child will be positively reinforced with some type of praise.
· Second Offense- Issue a brief desists- I will ask the student to stop the inappropriate behavior. Make direct contact and be assertive. Monitor the behavior until the student obeys the rules.
· Third Offense- Withhold a privilege or desired activity- I will take away a privilege or activity away from the child who is misbehaving. They will be allowed to earn the privilege back with appropriate behavior. Students will also discuss with the teacher what he/she has don’t inappropriately and discuss what they need to do to change their behavior and gain back their privileges.
· Fourth Offense-Isolate or Remove student- I will remove the child in a designated area. When the student is finished with his/her inappropriate behavior they will be able to go back to their desk and will right about the rules he/she had broken, and what they will do differently next time.
·
For those students who
continue to break the rules, I will remind the student of the appropriate
behavior before it happens. I will make sure that the student knows the
rule/routine with a quick review. If additional instructions is needed it will
be provided. I would then develop a plan to prevent the behavior from happening
again. If needed, the parents will be notified and a meeting will be scheduled
with the parents and child to discuss the inappropriate behavior and some ideas
we can do to improve his/her behavior.
